Coconut Oil

This wonderful vegetable fat is the main ingredient of our soaps and cosmetics collections. It is produced in the Philippines, Indonesia and India. Perfect for  hair, skin and teeth care, it is also used in the kitchen. In fact, it was introduced to Britain in 1820 as vegetable butter. Only later it was discovered as a great ingredient for the production of soaps. There are three types of coconut oil:
  • Raw: made from copra (dried coconut seed pulp). It is intended  for food use or for the oil industry for the production of lauric acid and derived compounds. It has an intense orange/red color and a strong characteristic smell of paint with a coconut note.
  • Refined: intended for food and cosmetic use. Typically made from copra, it has a slight yellow color and is practically odorless if highly refined.
  • Virgin: intended for cosmetic and food use. Typically made from un dried pulp or milk it is practically colorless and has a strong coconut smell.

In our products you will always find refined or virgin coconut oil. The benefits are endless:

  • -Anti-inflammatory
  • -Antifungal,antibacterial and antiviral. It absorbs fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients. Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat-soluble vitamins that are fundamental to humans and need the proper environment to be absorbed. Coconut oil allows the correct absorption and assimilation, improving the health of bones, teeth, hair, skin, mood and immune system. In addition, coconut oil is rich in vitamins E, K and iron.
  • -Hydrating
  • -Skin care. Rich in vitamin E, applying it to your skin after a shower makes it extremely soft. It has moisturizing, anti-wrinkle, anti-aging effects. It is also used in specific products for the treatment of eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.
  • -Hair care. It makes hair shiny, silky and facilitates its growth by providing nourishment to damaged strands. In case of dandruff it is recommended to massage it directly onto the scalp leaving it posing, possibly, for a few hours.
  • -Teeth. You can put some on the toothbrush instead of normal toothpaste for oral cleaning, or use it to create your own zero-waste toothpaste. Keep reading  to discover our special recipe!
  • -Mouth. To carry out a deep cleaning of the organism, you can perform an oil pulling: use 2 tablespoons of coconut oil as a  mouthwash for at least 5 minutes trying to get the oil between the teeth and all corners of the mouth.

    CHEZ-NOUS RECIPE

DIY toothpaste? No problem! Here is our recipe for having white, healthy and strong teeth. By creating your own toothpaste, you also reduce environmental pollution: your body and the planet will thank you! Use a simple kitchen glass jar ( for example, we use an old olive container, obviously properly washed) for storing your zero-waste homemade toothpaste.

Note! If it is summer, or your home exceeds 25 degrees, store it in the refrigerator. Coconut oil in fact becomes liquid above 25 degrees.

    Ingredients:

-5 tbsp of refined coconut oil

    -5 tbsp of baking soda

    - 20 drops of essential oil (mint or cinnamon are our favorites, but orange, grapefruit and lemon also work very well)

-1 tbsp of activated charcoal  (optional)

Mix the ingredients well. We recommend the use of an immersion blender, but a spoon will also work.

    Storage: 1 month.
